Focused accident prevention training in 2024 helped team members stay safe while working. In addition, Mission Integration supported staff with needed services plus opportunities for professional growth and skill development. Retail customers flocked to two new Auten’s Loft boutiques which boosted sales and foot traffic at three locations.
Recycling and waste reduction improvements delivered in 2024. A glass recycling project reduced landfill waste by about 2,000 pounds per month and a new e-cycle operation reclaimed waste electronics transforming them into quality retail products. We also explored new strategies such as the elimination of single-use plastic bags in two locations, with an eye toward eliminating them in all stores in 2025.
Goodwill turned the improvement lens inside, restructuring Retail and Operations departments for optimal focus and efficiency. The new Second Story bookstore concept is fueled by a high-powered book sorting machine that drives both book scanning and eBook sales. For maximal impact and effectiveness, we aligned workforce, career services and training programs. We continue to explore transformative retail experiences that will infuse our career services enterprise with new career-making programs like our IT Academy featuring drone pilot and cybersecurity training.
